the old question of fate vs free will, hmmm. Fate, like luck is a fantasy that we construct to explain the apparent randomness of probability. If the chances of a consequence resulting from a specific action are one in one thousand this does not mean that every thousand time you engage in the action the consequence will occur it simply means that over an infinite number of repetitions the consequence will happen approximately once for every thousand repetitions. In other words you could take up this activity and do it 10,000 times and never suffer a consequence or you might try it once and suffer the consequence. Odds; 1000:1 , probability??? Depends on a lot of things, some you can control (preparation=free will) and some you can't. Ultimately you must ask is it possible to have two different outcomes from a given situation as a result of things that are with our control to change? If you answer yes then you must admit free will and deny fate. The secret to finding opportunity is recognizing it when it comes around

Fate, just like destiny, something that had been determined when you're borned. We always said, "Your fate is in your hand." In Chinese culture, there's something call Hand-reading. The fortune-teller can judge your past and future. But, some thinks it's superstitious.
But, even though you can't your fate, you still can change your future with hardwork. Future is infinite.

Fate is what is going to happen no matter what, the inevitable. Hardwork is what happens do to what you do in life.
i.e. Your fate is to die when your body gives out. Hardwork would be to either do you best to shorten or postpone when you die.
