I love people from ALL races, and I think everyone is beautiful; however, it's something about we Black people who bring a special interest of intrigue, beauty, charisma, and intelligence to this nation--despite what the media or close-minded racists say. It takes a soldier of fine character to endure the trials and tribulations of the centuries of slavery...
As I said before, I have love for ALL races - God made you all beautiful and you are my brothers and sisters - but He created the ultimate masterpiece: the beautiful, exotic Black race.
So black people, tell me, what makes you proud of being black?
This is not intended to be racist, but I see so many people putting down on blacks and black people putting down on themselves. Be proud of who you are and the opportunity God gave you!
**I'm proud to be Black because I am a very, very beautiful, very successful, independent, young black woman who's getting married to a strong Black man of my caliber July 7, 2007.**

Ummmmm, Marlon....no, YOU missed the mark--you missed my entire point--BROTHAH....Gosh...."come back to earth sometime today..."
My point is that Black people are stereotyped all the time--people always think that Black people are thugs and low-lifes...my saying why I'm proud states that we have successful lives like everyone else--I'm not boasting/bragging....wake up and start paying attention--shish!!!

First of all this goes to the 1st poster Marlon: you sound ignorant, answer the question she asked plz.
I am so proud to be black for soooo many reasons. The strength I seen in my mom and grandmothers was amazing and finding that i posess the same strength is undescribable. When i see or hear racist remarks, it let's me know i still have the power to control anothers actions..effortlessly. when my daddy tell me he's proud of me, I get rejuvenated to go back out there and conquer..again. No one can take that away. My skin has been kissed by the soil of life. each pore I see on me represents someone I'll never meet. That someone was strong enough to make it through hell and held long enough....for me. i love all races too. I think we all have a great story to tell through our pores. Too bad, the ones that aren't so bright, get tripped up on the skin color. Congrats on your wedding.

I lived with Blacks for many years. And this is what I have observed. Everybody gets put down, made fun of, etc. Which causes one to have to struggle daily to maintain their self-respect. As every day we bump into somebody having a Bad Hair Day, and makes us feel like we're nothing all over again.
But to be fair. Blacks in the U.S .are getting an overdose of this.
What I see is that whenever a few people have to control a lot of people. They use a certain mentality. Words to break the persons will and spirit, so they can be controlled. It happened during slavery. To some extent in the military. And in the Prison system. Where it again becomes brutal, going as far as physical beatings.
This has been the Black experience in our country. Slavery. The Military, to escape poverty, and the Prison system, because many young blacks are not dealing with their pain.
But many Blacks themselves must stop passing this negativity on to other Blacks. Because all the things they've heard, about how inferior they are, and won't amount to nothing, are just Lies of the Devil!
We are not each others enemy. Satan, is the
enemy!

Very well said. I love being black. We are to be envied. It is obvious through some of the post here, that we are on the mind of many people. I love looking at my race. We are so unique and beautiful. I see all the beautiful skin tones for light to velvety black and I think that it is absolutely wonderful. THen I look at how much we have overcame. Slavery, segregation, and racism that is still alive today. We are more educated than ever. The women of our race are often stereotyped but many other women pay thousands to get our lips, hips, tanned skin etc. As a race, we are strong. The women are known to be virtuous (although we are loosing some of it) I love the fact that we are survivors. We can go through a hurricane, a housefire, loose our spouses and we still never give up. We are beautiful no matter what anyone says. Thanks for your wonderful question sista, stay strong, and keep loving you.

First off thank you for your kind words. Blacks normally don't hear the words that you speak on a daily basis. I'm mostly proud of my culture. Also more than anything, I love our black women. There's just something about the way they look that has always kept my interest. Don't get wrong, I have dated outside my race, but there's just something about a black woman.
Also I come from a strong people, I don't think too many other races especially whites could have endured what blacks had to go through as a people.

I am not a Black American I am an American and can't understand a few things. Why is there so much Self imposed Segregation in this country. If you talk to a Black Frenchman he speaks French,A Black Englishman sounds English. Why is there a United ***** College Fund,A National Association for the Advancement of Colored people,Why are there so many Black only Colleges. What would happen if there were an all White College. A National Association for the Advancement of White People. Why would you want to teach Ebonics in school. Why would you want affirmative action in enrollment in colleges.Doesn't what M L K taught mean anything. He spoke of EQUALITY among Men.Wouldn't that be great.White people of this day and age had nothing to do with the Slavery and should not have that brought up to them all the time, every German American is not Hitler, every Iraqi American is not Saddam every Black American is not Iddi Amine DaDa.If equality is what you want then practice it everyday.I do not believe in the Arien brotherhood but I also can't understand this self imposed prejudice and call it a WHITE problem.

I relate with my black "half" a lot more. Could be because my black side is the only family I know (with the exception of my mama) I don't know. I just do. My best friend is white though (weird!) However I would NEVER, EVER want to change the fact that I am black. There are no words that can express it. I am strong, because I am black; I am beautiful, because I am black etc...I could go on.....I think you see the picture. I have been passed down a strength that you would not believe...I am not saying my mother could not have done it......however - my grandmother (black) was just as strong as she wanted to be!! God rest her soul. As well as her mother.
There's no amount of hate in the world that can change the way I feel about myself and the black community - struggling or not! We ALWAYS succeed.

I'm proud of being black because I love who I am and my culture as well. I love my native island the customs and traditions the closeness of my family. I am proud because I am a living contradiction to every racist statement on Y!A. I am proud of being black because I have overcame many trials and tribulations regarding the color of my skin and from this I love my caramel color even more.
I am proud of being black because I love my hair, the length of my legs and neck, the fullness of my lips, the curves of my body. I am proud of who I am.

I'm proud of being of African desecent because of our Glorious history of Ancient Nubia/Egypt. We are the originators of true Civilization and we built the most magnificent Monuments in Egypt like the Sphinx, Pyramids, and etc... We are trendsetters to the fullest and other races pay lots of money to have our features.
We are the First/Original men who walked this Earth.
We were chosen by God to be created in his Image.
I wouldn't change anything about being Black.
I love being Black....
