I remember the when thje 2005 Indonsian Tsunami disaster was being covered by the media, they almost exclusivley focused on american casualties.

You didn't see the reports I saw. Yes, they reported on the Americans, but there were a number of reports and specials on the natives.
America and Americans also went and sent money to help.

That's true. I know I do. For some reason I feel more sorry for the Americans who lost their lives than a person from another country. I know, I know it's bad but that's how I feel. I actually do remember when the tsunami hit Indonesia all the media outlets mainly talked about the few Americans who were hurt or who died. I think it was somewhere around 20 or 30 Americans affected by the tsunami but there were thousands of Indonesians who were affected by the tsunami. But I'm sure other countries do the same thing.

The truth is no there are not that many of us who unless someone we care about is in the accident or attack or at least affected by it care. We feel sad but not as much as we might if we acctually saw it happen to someone we had as part of our lives. Still I will give us this If we can help and know it we will more often stop and lend a hand when we can see it is both wanted and needed.

the media does not speak for the people the media only reports what the government tells them to.
