Use borate. It's a non-toxic, naturally-ocurring mineral that will disrupt the enzymes in the critters' guts and wipe them out over time. It's not a fast acting poison so requires some time to work, but it will kill them, along with things like ants and termites, mold and mildew, and is safe for use around pets and children.

Roach Prufe, by the way, contains borate, but if you buy generic borate, which is a fine white powder, it would probably be a whole lot cheaper.

Those glue strips work great. Use roach bait traps as well, the childproof ones. I called a terminator once he said you don't have roaches. So he left. Ends up that I get roaches that come in from the outside. They don't live long indoors but I hate them anyway. Some years are worse here.
I use glue strips to keep up with the tiny creatures that come in that I don't see. I turn my traps around and around to get all the available sticky stuff used. They are great for catching otherthing that you'd normally kill or go after. I just take a tray with me lol. I use the ones from WalMart that are $.97 they fold to make a box. I love them.
My neighbor puts soap in all her window sills to keep critters out, she does this weekly.

Good luck.

I moved into a house, and not knowing, it was INFESTED. I tried those bombs, sprays, all kinds of things. I was about to give up, when I had a friend say to try chopped up onion, oil, sugar and boric acid. I did this and they are GONE. and best of all, I'm not breathing and living in chemicals. It's cheap, you can get boric acid at most lumber yards, even Family Dollar carries it for $2. You just chop up an onion,,finely, add 1/4 cup cooking oil, cup of sugar, and a cup of the boric acid. I use a little bit of water, to get a pasty consistency. Then roll into small balls and put them in the corners of sinks, cabinets, behind washer and dryers, so forth. Keep pets away from these areas while treating. Works fairly quickly. I even "dusted" boric acid in hard to reach places, under refridgerator, stove, closet containing the A/C, and in bathrooms. The roaches are attracted to the onion smell and the sugar for taste. They get the powder on their legs, then lick it off. They also take the powder on legs back to their colony, or their meeting place, and other roaches get it from them. One suspected reason for boric acid is that it "stops" their bodily system from working and they die from dehydration....several theories on that, but who cares as long as they DIE!! good luck!

Boric acid, it is very effective when used properly for killing cockroaches and most other insects. You can also get a house lizard, they are natural enemies and will eat them.
