"He freed himself" is correct. "He freed himself out" is both redundant and can be considered a fragment. If you finished the sentence it wouldnt be redundant, and it would sound like you didnt get distracted and stop writing that sentence. lol

It is redundant - lose the 'out' - even your question should lose the first(?) and reverse 'it is'. Then get rid of 'already'. Then, lo and behold you have -

Is this sentence correct or is it redundant? AND
'He freed himself'.

Add on: My dear, dear 'Oscar hi...'.
It is both redundant and a sentence - incorrect as it
may be. It is a complete thought containing a
redundancy. It can be understood as is, but is
grammatically unacceptable! No offense meant.

"Out" is a preposition. It is incorrect grammar to use it at the beginning or end of a sentence. If he freed himself from shackles, for example, You'd do better to say "he freed himself out of the shackles." You'd do even better to say "he freed himself of/from the shackles."

If, for purposes of readability, you'd prefer not to repeat the shackles (or from whatever it was he freed himself) then just leave out the "out".

It isn't redundant but may not be the best preposition to use even if you do continue the prepositional phrase. Say it in your head with the complete phrase and you might come up with a better preposition.

I'd call it redundant. Sounds kind of funny to my nonprofessional ears. Maybe with some previous meaning of the word "freed", but I'd say colloqually the "out" is unecessary and clumsy.

Simply "He freed himself"

Looks like some idiot is giving all the correct answers a thumbs down. I'm waiting for mine...

It is redundant. It should read, 'He freed himself.'

Out is unnecessary. Not sure about the already redundant part, but definitely don't need the out.

Dang kids these days need English classes. Just say "He freed himself." That is all you need to say. Stop trying to make it more difficult than it is.

yeah, kinda redundant. if you free yourself, you're getting out of something. so you don't need the out.
