One of my all-time favorite bands. I miss them. Capable of so much musically and now,..not even capable of getting their act together.
They sink under the weight of their own egos.
It is sad that they turned their induction from an acknowledgment of respect to another Van Halen punchline.
They are becoming the Mike Tyson of rock.

When the people from the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame approached John Fogerty about being inducted with Creedence Clearwater Revival, the rules at the time were that the band had to perform together if everyone was still alive. This meant that they had to put aside whatever differences they had. (I'm 37, so too young to know what the beef was there.)
I remember hearing this story and although I don't remember his exact response, it was something along the lines of - If doing this would gratify them and help them get into the RNR Hall of Fame, I refuse to do it. Screw them.
If they had two singers that made/kept them famous and churned out hits, they should both be there if they're still alive or none of them gets in unless as a solo artist. I think that John Fogerty did make it without CCR.

Agree. Van Halen has been due for this for years and even though I absolutely love(d) Diamond Dave, I wouldn't want him inducted just for his untimely death. At least when he does make it, we'll know it was because he rocked, not because his life was cut short.

Agree. He was great, but he didn't make or break that band. It was called "Van Halen" for a reason.
And Dave had an "untimely death"? WTF??
