Depends on what you mean by "average".
Most Nigerians live on the poverty level, i.e. about $2/day or less. They usually live in the villages/country areas and are unskilled and illiterate.
However, the average Nigerian - literate & working - earns about $800/month. Here, we would be talking entry-level attorneys/bankers/accountants. With a degree from a foreign university and a position above entry-level, the average salary rises above $1500/month.
A newly qualified doctor at a private hospital makes about $1000/month. The dynamics vary also if you work as a doctor for a telecommunications/bank/oil company's hospital. In such a case, you may make $2000+ easily. If you're single, you can live very comfortably with this income.

My great uncle earned $500,000,000 USD and died in a tragic plane accident. I received an email from the bank manager that the bank wants to wire his money to my account but I haven't had time to write back with my wire details...
