He was a devout Reagan style conservative, but says "We have no reason to be there. The things I've seen our military do to innocent people because we were never properly taught anything about their culture. We are fighting individual families and calling them terrorists and insurgents. These people that raise arms against us aren't fighting for some Islamic idealism like I read in the papers you send me. They want us off of their property. And christ, the uranium rounds. Those poor mothers trying to care for their mutated children. I understand what uncle Mike was talking about in the Gulf war now. If they ask me to go back, I'll only do it to be with Jon (our oldest brother)." He wouldn't tell me where he was, says he can't. I'm quite disturbed by all this. Is the man I voted for really doing the right thing? Is this morals, or politics?

Screw you people saying this is fake. He took shrapnel (not disabling, but nonetheless, SHRAPNEL). I love my brothers and wish they could both be home. Jon is doing his damned job, and James did his job. Eff you naysayers, kiss my ***.

I believe every word you wrote and every word your brother said. This isn't something he made up. Everything he says is true. Everything. Don't pay any attention to the naysayers. They wouldn't know the truth if it hit them in the face.As a matter of fact there are several other troops who have returned from Iraq who tell very similar stories. They didn't just pull these stories out of the air. What rings most true is that he says he cannot tell you where he was. And the uranium rounds. Yes others have said the same thing. They also talk about sabot. And how they can suck a person through a car window. The also talk about how scared our troops are and that is one of the reasons why they react so quickly and sometimes do things...that they wouldn't have done if they weren't so fearful. For them, everyone is an enemy. And it is the same on the other side.To them, WE are the enemy.
God help all who believe in him.
And please thank him for his honorable service. As well as his brother's service. And also tell him that there are far more people in this great nation of ours who WANT HIM AND HIS BROTHER AND ALL OF THE OTHER TROOPS TO
COME HOME THAN HE BELIEVES.
COME HOME SAFELY.

And yes, we have HUGE HUGE PROBLEMS in the Republican party....HUGE problems.

yes president bush and his administration have done some wrong. we would be the best country ever in the history of man if we had a president that did not make one mistake. he did right by going after the Taliban and al-queda after 9 /11. he did not do enough since then to get osama. about the reps and all for the war. the dems are trying to cut military spending. trying to cut the budget back. this descreases supplies and ammo and arms for our troops. might veen decrease payment. the dems are wrong for trying to micromanage a war. thats the executive branch's job. senate can do a few things. but they have gone too far. bush has also dropped t he ball a bunch in iraq.

George Bush's war is not for democracy. We went to war for a few reasons but none of them were for WMDs, liberating Iraq from Saddam or spreading democracy.

This was is about money, oil and power.

First, money. Saddam was going to stop trading Iraqi oil based on the dollar. He was going to switch to the Euro. This would have had a devastating effect if Saddam had done that. It would have promoted other Arab nations to follow suit dumping the dollar in exchange for the Euro. The dollars value would have tanked and the US economy would soon follow. Also, is it no surprise that Dick Cheney, former CEO of Haliburton (and still getting a paycheck from them) arranged for Haliburton to get billions in no bid contracts? Also the large military industrial complex needs wars to make money. There are TRILLONS to be made in arms sales to the United States but they can only be made if we are at war. The military industrial complex is one of the largest campaign contributors. It's also interesting to note that many law makers, generals, and other people of power within the government will leave "public" work and go to work for military arms companies.

Second, oil. Iraq has the worlds second largest prove oil reserves and is basically untouched. By invading Iraq the United States was able to 1) destabilize the nation. 2) by destabilizing the nation were able to maintain a large military presence in Iraq. The 140,000 or so troops in Iraq provide the United States with a lot of authority within the Iraqi government. So long as the troops are there the Iraqi government is going to do what the US says. By creating violence and destroying the nation US and British oil companies are able to go in secure the Iraqi oil fields for pennies on the dollar. Why? Because it provides much needed revenue to the Iraqi government and the 140,000 US troops allows the US to get its way on that matter.

Third, power. Iraq was central in the fight to take over the world. Iraq, even after it was destroyed by the first Gulf War and years of sanctions was still the most powerful country in the region. By taking Saddam out and destroying Iraq and creating chaos the US is able to set up a puppet government. They have then built many permanent military bases. The plan was never to liberate Iraq or bring democracy to it. The plan was to create chaos and sectarian violence, secure the oil fields, and build permanent military bases that would allow the US to project its power to the other Arab nations.

The man you voted for is a monster. He is the very spawn of Satan. You should join the freedom movement to bring back our Constitution and our rights.

WAKE UP!

9/11 WAS AN INSIDE JOB!!

I served there and I would have to respectfully have to disagree with some of his observations. We had class after class about their culture, no way could we learn it all but our efforts to understand were very appreciated by the people. We brought more medical care to the people we worked with than they have had in 15 years. As for fighting individual families, I can really say about where he was, but the communities we were in supported us and assisted us. I'm just making an observation here based on your post, but it may have been a failure of his immediate chain of command or maybe the part of the country he served.(there are very different views depending on what part of the country you are in. I have talked to many that have served through out Iraq and that is readily apparent)

This is not meant to show support of any particular political party or policy.

I'm in the army too, and was conservative all my life. But I've turned against the republicans as a result of the Iraq war. Anyone who understands anything about the middle east could have told you that american-style democracy would not go over well in Iraq. The administration thought we could dismantle their country, flip over their social order, and everything would be great, with voting and bbq's on the 4th of July. That was a genius plan.

I thank your brother for his service, and hope he comes home safe. The country right now asks its military members to give up multiple years far away from their homes and families. They deserve our gratitude.

each and every of the seats in Congress are not crammed with Democrats. The Republcians ran each and every branch of government for 6 years and the presidency for 8 and that they made an entire MESS OF IT. The Dems then gained an exceedingly slender majority in Congress, yet no longer adequate to bypass something. administration continues to be with the Republicans, and could be till January twentieth.

I don't believe for one minute your brother was Republican, a devout Reagan style conservative. Do you know how many come on here saying this as a putdown on the party? I think this whole thing sounds pathetic but you got your liberal votes, they will buy anything that goes against the President. As for your brother feeling we shouldn't be there he shouldn't be there either, let the real soldiers take care of buisness.

You claim your bro was a devout Reagan style cons. How old is he? Most young people in the military were just born around the time Reagan was in office.
Your story sounds like bunk, Skippy.

Take your brother at his word. In every other war that made any sense, one leader said to the other leader: "You must do X." The other leader either complied or there was a war. In the latest case of Iraq, Bush said: "We need to inspect your country." Saddam responded: "Sure! Come on in! Look wherever you want, take as long as you want. I don't want to have a war with you!" But Bush decided to pull the inspectors out and invade anyway. Why? because he thought he'd find the weapons he was looking for more easily while trying to manage a massive occupation? That's ridiculous. If there were any weapons there, now we'll never find them.

If Saddam had said "No, screw you. I won't let you inspect!" or even "those sites can't be inspected" ONLY THEN would the war have been justified.

As it is now, this attack was a vicious act perpetrated by scandalous, greedy cowards on a country that did nothing to them or the United State. Face reality, my friend, Jesus will be there smiling to meet you.

Yet another sobering story of why it is of the utmost importance to have a Commander-In-Chief who understands and appreciates the significance of his position.
Wisdom and decency is sorely lacking in this administration!

When you ask your fellow countrymen to sacrifice everything they believe and honor and truly hold dear it should only be as a last resort.
I truly hope we at some point soon have government officials who rise to the standard of John Hancock or Benjamin Franklin or George Washington.

Bless you and your family!!!

Even though I don't support this mission our corrupt administration has put our brave men and women on---I do thank all of them for their service and sacrifice!!!!
