Avast has traditionally been notoriously poor in it's detection and removal of trojans.

Avast users really need to use a specialized anti-trojan program in addition to the Avast anti-virus program. I like a-squared Free which is available from:
http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/

a-squared makes a nice conflict-free compliment to Avast.

because its a visual basic script
I use alot of vbs to do my common sysadmin route job functions
