the body has a great way to adapt. There are many ways to maintain balance (1) proprioception - receptors in muscle,tendons, joints that tell you where your body is in space (2) visual system - eyes tell you if your upright or falling etc.... (3) vestibular system - inner ear detects changes in position. Even if the great toe is amputated that's just 1-2 joints missing - look at all the ones remaining.

Another example is diabetics - if they don't control diabetes one of the consequences is peripheral neuropathy that affects hands and feet. You still see them walking around?

When one balance system is impaired the others become more enhanced.

Yeah. You push off your big toe when walking as well, so you would have a harder time walking (or running) without it. It is why guys like Jack Lambert (football player, Pittsburgh Steelers) had to retire because of "turf toe." It was too painful to play.

yes you could
you would have to go through some phsical thearapy but
youll be able to get your balance back
just be patient
