Actually, the symbol is Btu. Example: 1055 joules = 1 Btu

'BTU' stands alone. There is no other.
However, the question is valid due to the plethora of symbols used for so many things these days. This is one old-fashioned 'dude', per se, that ain't goin' away any time soon!
