Do you feel that we are currently ready to present ourseleves as a worthy species for communication to a far more advanced civilization within this galaxy or any near by galaxy at this time? If so why? If not, please explain why not?

No, I do not feel we are ready for the scrutiny of an "advanced" civilization, unless maybe comic relief is what that civilization is looking for.

We are still steeped in superstition. We (and I use the word "we" merely as a figure of speech) can't handle the idea that we are just one life form in a universe filled with billions, no, make that quintillions, of intelligent life forms. Our concepts of the universe are so lame they are not even worthy of being unworthy. But, as Stephen Hawking points out, there may not be any "advanced" civilizations because at some point they get to be too technically smart for their own brains and britches and they blow themselves up. Seems like we're headed in that direction. Either that or they despoil their own nest through atmospheric and environmental pollution, to their ultimate demise.

Within this galaxy, you say? Why put that limit on it? We have the Andromeda Galaxy practically right next door, only 2.4 million light years away. A bigger, brighter, and more beautiful star system than our own Milky Way. I'm betting that's where the advance civilizations are, if any there be.

i don't think we are just because if youve ever read Chrichton's "Sphere," there is this guy in there that basically lays it out, he says that if we find alien life (astronomical chance there) there is a subatomically small chance we could ever communicate with it because it might not use the combination of senses that we do... i mean even on earth different species communicate in infinately different ways, and the sheer thought that another life form, developed on a seperate planet/galaxy/universe? through seperate steps in evolution would be even minutely similar to us is simply theoretically impossible

nice thought though ;)

P.S. theres a function in there that shows the mathematical probability of it ever happening, i'll have to find it later

Alas- no. Let's face it; if we still can't treat EACH OTHER as a species- with respect, understanding, and without judgement, how on EARTH will we be able to deal with a super advanced form of intelligent life??! We'd freak out! Humankind still has a lot of "growing up " to do as far as understanding itself... -And any super intellegent species will KNOW that by its observations of us- and think twice about paying us a visit- any time soon.

Many people that believe aliens have visited, think they are kinder more intelligent beings. Who's to say they aren't conquerors. Or they got lucky and figured out space travel, but are behind us in other ways. So to the point, yes we are because this is about as good as we can get w/o further evolution.

I don't think we can handle it; look at what we've done to our own planet and the species that inhabit it. If we meet others we will probably take advantage of them just like that. Plus, it appears as though there is no life, and if there is, it is both primitive and incredibly far away.

I saw a silver saucer shaped craft one day hovering and it WAS mind controlling people to drive on, and i don't like them and will shoot at the next one i see.
I don't like them flying around for 1000s of years probably taking children for slaves since they probably mixed some DNA and genes into us to make us as were 98 % chimp DNA, there evil i think and i will attack any that i see.and stuff the body's and put them in my living room on display.Y'all

no, i think isolationism is the best bet for a couple more centuries. Think of how advanced other species could be seeing how they could have a couple billion years of evolution on us. chaos would erupt as religions crumbled beneath the truth. people cant handle the truth, we need to live in our illusion of safety for a while longer, or until i die at least.

No I do not believe we will ever be ready. Mostly because I would assume all species (providing they exist) would be far more intellectual than we could fathom

Nope. Most of the world still believes in religion. We definetly aren't intelligent enough yet.

Of course we are. Why do you think we are so obsessed with finding what's "out there"? We are technically advanced as evidenced just by looking aound you. We are looking for these life forms, they are the ones hiding jabroni...
