Something just over the edge of reality, with a moral theme, provocative.... basically like a TZ episode. Seems like fantasy films today are either exaggerative horror or idiotic comedy.

Close for movies might be: Frequency, Pleasantville, The Lake House

Books:
Anita Shreve "The Last Time They Met,"
Alan Brennert "Kindred Spirits,"
Tim Krabbe, "The Cave,"
Alan Lightman, "Reunion,"
James Pratt, "The Last Valentine,"
Richard Matheson, "Somewhere in Time"

Thank you! I love this kind of thing - more please!!

The Drawing of the Dark
The siege of Vienna was actually a struggle between Muslim and Christian magicians over the spiritual center of humans in the West, which happens to be a small inn and brewery in Vienna. The "dark" of the title is a beer that has been brewing for centuries, which the Fisher King will eventually drink.
The Anubis Gates
A time travel story set mostly in 1810, featuring a brainwashed Lord Byron, magic, Egyptian gods and a werewolf.
Dinner at Deviant's Palace
unusually for Powers, this is set in the future, in a postatomic America in which an extraterrestrial psychic vampire is slowly taking over.
On Stranger Tides
moves to the 17th century Caribbean; with pirates (many of them real characters), voodoo, zombies, Juan Ponce de Leon, and a strangely quantum-mechanical Fountain of Youth.
The Stress of Her Regard
concerning the dealings of the Romantic poets—Byron and Shelley are major characters—with vampire-like beings from Greek mythology.
Fault Lines
series
Last Call:
a professional poker player finds out that he lost far more than he won in a game played with Tarot cards two decades ago.
Expiration Date
a boy possessed by the spirit of Thomas Edison is hunted through Los Angeles by people wanting to consume the ghost he carries.
Earthquake Weather
sequel to both Last Call and Expiration Date, involving the characters of both: two fugitives from a psychiatric hospital, the magical nature of multiple personality disorder, and the secret history of wine production in California.
Declare
a Cold War espionage thriller which evokes Lovecraftian horror and the Epic of Gilgamesh, involving Kim Philby, djinn and the Ark on Mount Ararat.

in case you study Twilight and then observed the e book, you would be fully unimpressed with the movie. The cut back out lots of the terrific scenes from the story. They make it look like vampires basically all got here to be, whilst extremely there's a narrative of ways the Cullens got here to be. Like, a satisfying, exact description. in case you observed it, i think of you ought to study it, too. (Twilight) whether you won't be able to have your guy or woman version of Edward and Bella, a minimum of you get to be crammed on the genuine thought that grow to be edited into muck, in comparison to the e book. enable's see- the e book- 5 stars, if no longer 10 movie- 2.5 stars So truthfully, go out and purchase your self a Twilight e book. you are going to adore it, and in case you enjoyed the movie you will possibly extremely adore the e book. ADORE my buddy! haha

I favor the time travel genre, so my number-one all-time favorite is 'Peggy Sue Got Married'... time travel via the mind. For the strange/Ghostly I'd choose "The Sixth Sense". For a comedy (and there were many in the original series) I'd choose "Galaxy Quest". Great premise: fading TV Sci-Fi stars discover their biggest fans are -- aliens!
