yeah I realize I am overweight, but at my heaviest I weighed about 246... so I've lost a decent amount since the middle of last year.

Not at 16, but if you don't get your weight under control by the time you're 25 you'll probably have the beginnings of heart disease, possibly diabetes and possibly high blood pressure, all of which can lead to stroke when you're older.

As far as a stroke goes, the risk is rather low, although increasing.

At your current weight you can expect problems with heart disease and diabetes if you don't commit to making a few lifestyle changes.

I congratulate you on your current sucess with weight loss, keep it up and you'll be set for a long, healthy life.

Congrats on the weight loss! As for the chance of strok, why are you so concerned? Did someone in your family have one? Please, relax, watch your salt intake, and keep exercising--wallking, swimming, etc. and make sure you drink either 8 - 8 oz glasses or 4 - 16 oz bottles of water per day to keep you properly hydrated. How is your blood pressure? The "free" way to get it checked, is to stop at your local fire station (when they are there) during the daytime, and ask one of them to check your blood pressure for you. Also, if you are still this concerend about the stroke possibility, please, ask your parent(s) to make an appt. with your dr. for you asap, and go in with your list of questions for your dr. Be prepared to have your blood pressure checked, maybe a physical (if it's been awhile), medical family history, etc. Have your questions ready, and the dr. should spend the time not only asking you the questions he/she need to ask you, but for you to ask him/her. I wish you the best. Take care.

the more over weight you are the higher the risk of heart attack or stroke, at 16 it's pretty unlikely for you to have one but if you eat a lot of saturated fats and have a family history of it then it is possible.
