Your question prompted me to tell you my story. It is a tale of excitement that turned into woe, sadness, and despair. It is a tale of the love affair that I once had....with Apple's iPod products.

About a year and a half ago, my dad bought my mom an iPod Shuffle. She fell in love with it instantly. It was small, compact, and kinda cute. Later, my dad bought me an iPod Nano that I immediately fell in love with.

Six months later, the Shuffle died and went to that big USB port in the sky. Even though the thing was protected by a one year warranty, Apple refused to honor it by charging us to replace it. Dad said "screw it" and got two SanDisk MP3 players for him and Mom.

One month passed after I received my iPod Nano and it too, died. I took it back to Best Buy (got a 2 yr. warranty on it; if you buy something there, ALWAYS get a warranty). I got a new Nano and it was cool until it started skipping songs several months later.

I have now learned my lesson. Apple's products suck. I did not get a Zune because it was a new product out on the market and I was a little skeptical of it. So I got myself a Creative Zen Vision: M. It costs the same as a 4GB iPod Nano (which I had previously) but it is 30 GB, holds about 15,000 songs, a couple of hours of clips, photos, etc. It has a built in FM-tuner (you had to plunk down $50 to get an FM attachment to any iPod product). It also has a microphone built in too.

A couple of days ago, I was at work at a law library and a lawyer comes in to check out a couple of books (he's a regular; I see him every weekend) and he was carrying a Zune with him and he seemed to be pleased with it. My co-worker and I asked about it and he said he preferred it over Apple's products. I told him that I see people in public transit listening to iPods all the time and all I could think of was "what a bunch of sheep" those people are. He told me that was the main reason why he got a Zune and not an iPod; and I quote from him: "I don't want to be a sheep."

So, do you want to be a sheep or get something that actually works? That is the end of my story and it has a happy ending. I love my new Creative Zen; it rocks (it was recommended to me by a co-worker, btw).

Zune, I have one and I love it. I havent had any problems. Unlike what the first girl said, I have had my Zune since Christmas and its never crashed. A couple of my friends have ipods and they say they wish they had a Zune. It may be fatter, but you can basically think of it as a built in case, because the Zune is practically scratch proof. I picked the Zune because i just wanted something different from everyone else, also i thought it was really kool. Something I really like is the customizable backgrounds, because it lets you put any picture you want as your background, just like a computer. Compared to ipods, you have the same boring white background. If you want to be different and stand out from everyone with boring ipods, get a zune.

i totally agree with you, ipods cant level up to the zune at all, and i mean AT ALL. my ipod does what it is supposed to, play music, videos etc. this one girl in my math class has a zune and i was amazed at the betterness it was than my ipod, i was blown away by it. im saving up to buy a zune and i'm going to sell my ipod, because for the same price, size(probally a little bigger, but not much) you get about 3x the screen with more clairity in picture. so i would go with the zune all the way!!!!
but its your decision
