The muscle soreness which is most evident the day after your workout is a sign that the muscles have microscopic tears. It is the repairing of these tears which grows your muscles.

In fact, if you do not experience soreness the following day, it's a sign that you should increase the amount of weight you're lifting.

If you want bigger muscles faster, make sure to down a protein shake within 30 mins after your workout.

No
Soreness = Muscle Strain/Overdoing It
You might have jumped up to an exercise regiment more strenuous than you can handle. Stop until the soreness goes away, then start again with a bit less weight and build your way up.
Of course, this is assuming the pain is somewhat severe, if you just did a longer workout than usual, some sore muscles are to be expected for a short time after.
