2N(0) + 2O2(0) ===> 2N(+4)O(-2)2

so, we see an increase in the oxidation number of N, hence nitrogen is oxidised, a decrease in o. n . of oxygen indicates that it is reduced.

It's N2 + 2 O2 ---> 2 NO2 (nitrogen is diatomic)

Nitrogen is oxidized, oxygen is reduced.

N+O2--->NO2.Nitrogen is reduced , Oxygen is oxidised.
