I learned the drums by myself by doing one thing that anybody can do.... It is LISTINING TO MUSIC! Your brother is a natural learner. So tell him to hear music all the time. (day, afternoon, night) And I don't mean simple music, I mean real band music. Tell him when listening to the song, to pay more close attention to how the drums go. And to try to follow what the drummer does in the song. It helps a lot with practice!

Don't spend big money on a set of drums just yet but go to a music store and get him a drummers practice pad and a set of sticks. Should not cost more than $30.00 or so. If he can keep a simple beat over and over again, he might be a drummer in the future. You can't teach rhythm, they are a born givin talent. A simple practice pad can let him work on rolls and hand movements. Tell him to use it like it was a snare drum, the first and most basic drum in a set.
God Bless and good luck to him!
