I never met a dog that didn't love it.
My German Shorthaired Pointer (crazy *****) used to love diving 6 to 8 feet underwater for stones that you would throw into the deepest part of the river. And she always came back with something (although usually NOT the same stone that you threw).

Even cats can swim if they fall or are thrown into the water. But they don't like to get wet.

Yeah, it's an instinct thing. Cats know how to swim, too, but they don't like it at all.

yes, but you cant just throw a puppy in a pool and expect it to know how. it has to learn. in nature, dogs learn from other dogs, bu if its a pet you have to get it used to the water.

it's a survival instinct. you can test it out. fill the bathtub with water, and hold the dog over the water. don't put 'em in, just hold over. watch the little legs start paddling, its hilarious

ummmm....yeah.....I think that's why they call a certain stroke which is inefficient for humans but very graceful for canines to use in the water as "the dogpaddle".......
