Back in the late 60's and early 70's, there was the rase to see who could be the first to walk on the moon. Do you think that NASA would like to have this happen again in the future or was it just something the goverment focused on since JFK made the statement in his speech in the 60's that a man will walk on the moon by the end of the decade?

Yes, we still have the technology to do it...and according to George Bush's pledge, NASA will go back.

Even if you consider the source though...I think we'll go back regardless of who the president is.

A hoax? Are there still people like that out there? Oh my. Get your head out of the sand and think for once.

We went due to politics mainly, yes, I'll give you that. We stopped going because it was expensive, the point was made that we got there first, and the shuttle was being built so funds had to go there.

Other countries go up? Have you looked at the news lately? China is just now getting ready to go up in a few years. No other country has the resources to do it alone..hence the ESA...they are working together on it.

As far as taking tourists there...you NASA or anyone more credit then it is due. It is DANGEROUS to go there. It took those guys weeks to get to the moon when they did go...immense radiation exposure from the Van Allen Belts...just to name a few... Tourists! You think the shuttle blowing up on re-entry was tragic...imagine losing 2 dozen tourists in space to an unpredicted meteor storm or coronal mass ejection....give us another 50 years or so, then maybe.

Yes, NASA is planning to return to the moon around 2020. And they hope to build a permanent manned station there soon after that. But who knows if they will get enough government funding to do this.
But I'm sure that sooner or later, it will happen.

Sure--but at the rate things are going, they won't be Americans. Bush's so-called "return to the moon program" is just hype--they haven't actually funded it. But there are other nations with serious programs underway.

I think that if they ever did it, they will do again Whew! I sound like a conspiracy theorist. Anyways. I do think that they will come up with a reason some day to do it again and it will indeed be done. I bet they'll try to get someone to try to live on it or something goofy like that.

I don't believe man ever was on the moon! If they did, why haven't they been back already, too many years have gone past! They should been at the stage of taking tourists there by now. I think it was staged at 'Area 51' all along. They just wanted to beat any other countries attempting the same thing. Also if 'man was on the moon' - why haven't other countries sent their team there ...... ? It was all a hoax!!!!!
