fushigi yugi???

Question

i want to watch the anime fushigi yugi. i have the boxed set, i want to know if the "the mysterious play" is the first part of this anime. the box is red with the picture of a golden bird on it. i mainly want to know if this is the first part of the series. also, i want to know if there is anything inapropriate in this anime. if there is anything inapropriate in the anime, can you please name them. thanks for answering!!!

Yes. The red box is the first part of the series (season #1). The blue box is the second part (season #2). There are also OVAs afterward.

Alright, the boxed set that you have is the first season box set. The red one is Suzaku box set, the second season is going to be a blue box with a golden dragon (Seiryuu). The set of the first 2 OVAs for after the TV series is going to be a black boxed set, and then the final OVA is going to be in a green packaging.

As for the storyline it's about 2 middle school students are are exam cadidates studying to get into high school. While at the libary they get sucked into an ancient chinese book and become priestesses of different countires and eventually become enemies with each other. They have to collect the 7 celestial warriors of their beast god deity to summon it and have their wishes granted. The first season is sort of more lighthearted although there are numerous darker/serious parts, but the 2nd season, starting with the last episode of the first season, definatly gets more serious in tone. But overall it still is able to keep its balance of comedy, romance, drama, and suspence.

In terms of inapropriate things, there is nudity here and there, but it's not detailed (i.e. short scenes where you can see breasts but nipples are not drawn) so it's not too risque. I'd say the only thing that some people might not like is the theme of rape. Although there are no sex scenes there is attempted rape and mention of it. It's not graphic or very worrysome, but just saying this theme does show up, especially more so in the second season.

Other then that, it's a great series. It was a wonderful watch and a recommended anime that's worth trying.

It has a little bit of sexiness on it.

And its mainly about 2 students(girls) that went to the restricted area of the library and found a mystical book. After reading a phrase that says "All the people that read this book becomes the main character of the book." (it's something like that but not exactly) they they were swallowed in the book of the Universe of the Four Gods (these 4 gods are: Suzaku, Genbu, Byaku, and Seiryu)

and these girls become the priestesses of the different kingdoms.

Yeap this is the first part. There's another part for this anime called Fushigi Yuugi OVA something like that but the story is not as nice as the original, its about Miaka & Tamahome had already settled down, got married and all, then this girl who discovers the book again got really desperate to leave her world and wanted to get to Konan, so that brings Tamahome into trouble too bla bla...

And there's also another part of Fushigi Yuugi but only available in manga. Its called Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden. This one, its a bit different, the manga tells the story of the 7 warriors of Genbu, one of the 4 countries in the Universe of the four gods, remember they have Konan, Kuto, Genbu and Hokkan, Genbu is the turtle country where it is the first country to summoned the sacred beast. (i guess)

I have not read this manga yet but it does sound interesting.

Btw, to say inappropriate, i would say that Fushigi Yuugi includes some nudity. The author drew Sailormoon too, so it is kinda of a girlish.

For me, Fushigi Yuugi is 3 part fantasy & action, 3 part romance & drama, and 4 part comedy. The romance part really bores me but overall this is a good show.

Suzaku the Red Bird box FIRST,and Seiryu the Blue Dragon box SECOND. I own both box sets and the second is the best. there is minimum nudity not even bad. it is the best Anime ever. And the manga is even better. The story line is good to. it is very easy to follow.
