It looks like it's $640 to $2000 a month, depending on buildings. There are tons listed at http://www.rent.com as well as pictures of these places, and it also lists all the additional addons available.

By the beach (santa monica, westwood) probably $1400 a month. In Beverly Hills, also around the same. In West Hollywood, probably around $1200. In Hollywood, maybe $800-$1000.
In Pasadena area, probably around $1000. Downtown, $1500.
Most of it depends on the area, the street within the area where the apt is located, the type of building (large apartment complex, high rise tower, basement of some old lady, guest house), the age of the unit, the amenities of the building, whether it is a true 1 br or a studio or a closet with a sink, etc.

Depends where you go. What area are you looking in? They are all very expensive though.
