The major persecution was an artificially created famine. Food was shipped out of Ukraine while people were starving.

Well Ukraine was part of the USSR.Ukraine was known as the Bread Basket of Europe. So Stalin sent them by the 1000s to the Gulags.He then sent in 1000s of russians to replace them.This way Stalin believed the food could be better controlled from Moscow
