You've got a bad leak somewhere. Take it to a repair shop where you can get it pressure checked and they can tell you exactly where the leak is.

Coolant shouldn't leak. Either it's leaking externally somewhere (easy fix) or it's leaking internal to the engine (bye bye engine).

First check the radiator itself. If that's leaking, those can be expensive so decide whether you want to do that.

Then look at the radiator hoses and heater hoses. If they look brand-new cool... but if any of them look frayed, bulging or "tired out" in any way, then REPLACE THEM ALL ($25-60 typically) Also replace the water pump ($15-50 typically) and thermostat ($3 typically). Just replace all that cheap stuff, it's cheap and you are guaranteed a reliable cooling system for a long time.

When you're done, fill it with 50/50 antifreeze. Since it might leak, use the non-toxic "Sierra" or "Prestone low-tox" antifreeze. It'll cost you $2 more (big whoop) but it's harmless, so you don't have to worry about leaks or spills.

Maybe you don't care about "the environment", but antifreeze is very sweet-tasting and pets often lick up spills. The toxic stuff will kill them. So if you have a pet or anyone you care about does, spend the extra $2.
