a yankee family moved to there manhatton home and let us stay in there bronx home for two weeks once which was dutch shultze the gangters old place so i know that all yankees are not to bad of folks at all.

The first answer is just as entertaining as the question.

When I first read your question I thought you were from the UK. They call all of us Americans "Yankees" which would include yourself. ; )

Now to answer your question. Every region of the US has their distinct accent that reflects the historical political culture of the inhabitants. No one sounds "darn funny" just different.
Your question does not offend me at all!

We should be proud of our diverse regional accents. Just think of how we have butchered the English language.

Most Northern folk stayed in groups that came from the same migration. The accents compliment their origin.
