get a motherboard at a nice speed of frequency
match that with a nice cpu and ddr2 keep the frequencies matching and pay attention to the specs to all 3 components and match them on paper first then build a nice pc. have a budget?
this is the best way to plan a purchase as well...

ddr's are 182 pin , where ddr2 are 224pin , there not compatible .
