~Papa Joe Kennedy took Jack to Chicago with him as a cover when he (Joe) was meeting with Sam Momo Giancanna to work out a bootlegging agrument the two were having over the distribution rights of Cutty Sark scotch in Philadelphia and Cleveland. Jackie was there with her uncle Carlos Marcello, the New Orleans don appointed to mediate the dispute. Joe wanted to strengthen his ties with the mob and the godfathers wanted to cement their in with government. The marriage was arranged, but only on the condition that the Families would help out with Jack's anticipated run for president. The boys came through with the Teamster endorsement, the fraudulent West Virginia primary and the late Illinois (esp Chicago) returns in the general election.
