While I agree that the first four seasons were the best, the only complaint I have about later seasons was how Ross went from this relatively stable if a little bookish guy to a whiny superficial uptight twit who never saw his son (remember Ben?) and criticized everyone around him. They got it together near the end and made him likable again, or at least tolerable, but I remember cringing every time I saw David Schwimmer for the longest time.

I thought the exact opposite. Friends was a great show and I think their shows only got better as the seasons went on. I was both happy and sad when it ended because it was reaching its limit but I was sad to see it go. The final episode was one of the best ones!

I think it had a couple of crappy seasons in the middle, and then the writing got very good again. It ended well.
