The sound of running water encourages birds to come into the yard. Some birds will catch insects.

In nature, it just happens because water is travelling from high terrain to low. there doesn't have to be a benefit, although the falling water has been used to move waterwheels which can turn a grinding stone or a belt for a saw, or to create electricity which can power machines. that's why you see so many sawmills, grain mills and textile mills next to waterfalls. .

Waterfalls bring down fresh, naturally filtered, drinkable water from mountainous regions. Waterfalls, as part of an ecosystem, attract and accumulate fish which serve to feed other wild life such as bears.

If you pickle them while they're young they'll follow people when you whistle. Most of them are bold and will call Senators and Congressmen to bug them. It's very theraputic when they ask you unanswerable questions. It relaxes me to tears.
