The price of gas normally goes up in the Spring- because people are driving more. ALSO, I have the feeling- that because we, the consumer, did nothing more than whimper alittle LAST summer when gas hit $3.50 a gallon, the big Oil Companies feel they can jack up the prices even HIGHER this year- and get away with it. As long as we're willing to "drive to the tune" the oil companies "sing", the price of gas will KEEP going up every year. It's up to US to do something about it...-because no one else will. Happy motoring! :)

america has little administration over the fee of oil. international locations that when walked and used public transportation intensively in latter a lengthy time period, at the instantaneous are finished of deepest voters with their personal autos. A critical US import marketplace in latter a lengthy time period, is now no longer so actual and places like india and china are seeing an excellent spike in international businesses installation save and promoting products. Many products use oil of their production, those new rising markets are draining the once tremendous and cheap reserves of oil. Globalization is the placement, and now that the U. S. and western Europe at the instantaneous are not the critical and in person-friendly words genuine markets for products, it makes each thing more advantageous extreme priced with the inclusion of places like Brazil, China, India. This difficulty gained't flow away, and it really is going to be as a lot because the subsequent tremendous inventor to remedy our spouse and little ones ability needs that ought to take the position of gasoline.

How else can the rich get richer? Do you have a problem with the free market system? What are you, anyway, some kind of communist?
If you listen for Big Oil's apologists they will tell you that it is all the fault of the government regulations and the fithy Arabs, but that is all pure bafflegab. Gasoline is going through the roof because they can charge whatever they choose, and no government has enough power to say them nay.

Gas skyrockets because the price of oil is rising. Oil prices fluctuate due to market demand, just like stocks. I don't think we'll see oil prices back down to their lows of 3 months ago. From here on out, I think gas is going to continue - especially to promote the new "green" ideologies and technologies.

Dear Lizzy,
Gas prices rise for a combination of reasons: 1) Enviromentalists have lobbied Congress to stop the oil companies from drilling for domestic oil in our vast reserves because they don't understand that we need oil more than we need to protect arctic wastelands which are mostly unhabited. 2) They have also made it too expensive for oil companies to build new refineries by getting strick polution controls. 3) Air quality standards require different grades in different regions & seasons. Again, you can thank the Enviromentalist Whackos fo high $$!

I don't know, but refineries are running so close to capacity that any little glitch causes prices to spike.

Sure they do--some of their refineries are down for annual maintainance.
No, I'm not kidding--that's their excuse.
