Why not check out AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition before you plunk down some cash. I have used it for years and its been the best one yet.. .I tried Norton before but AVG Anti-Virus is equally as good. see what CNET.com editor review have written on this product.

Don't get burned
RATED 4 STAR
This antiviral program offers rock-solid protection for no financial commitment. AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition provides all the necessities, including a tool for scanning your hard drive and e-mail, as well as a real-time shield to prevent infections. By default, the application is set to search for new virus definitions daily, but you always can use the scheduling tool to change this. Should a virus create serious system problems, AVG create a rescue disk to scan your computer in MS-DOS mode. The program doesn't tax your system when scanning or when running in the background and always proved effective in our tests. This app's interface can't be described as beautiful, yet it is mostly simple to navigate. Sure, you can plunk down a lot of cash for an antiviral application with more features, but AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition delivers the goods for free.

I would consider Grisoft AVG to be the best antivirus for many reasons. For example, if you dont have the money or don't want to pay for anti-virus protection you can go with their free edition. They also have pay versions that have more functions such as anti-spyware, spam gaurd, and a Firewall. Updating the virus definitions is a simple task, you can set it to automatically update. All around its a great program and stays upto date. So thats why I consider AVG to be the best one on the market currently.

I have McAfee because I get it free from my ISP. So far it has worked well.
If I were going to purchase one it would be Kaspersky. I've read numerous reviews on Kaspersky and it is excellent.
I once had Norton and had so many problems with it I was actually glad when my computer did the final crash just so I could get rid of Norton.

I prefer AVG since it is simple, updates itself, doesn't keep telling you with a pop-up what it has blocked and is not "attacked" like Nortons is by hackers who have figured out their mission in life is to ruin the virus protection systems.

Check this site out: This will give you both free and paid versions of stuff.

I have had Norton (long time ago), McAfee, Avast, AVG (only temporarily)...and have since gone to another free one.

Everybody will like different products for different reasons... You have to make the choice yourself as to which you prefer and why.

The loose Avast homestead version isn't any doubt one in each and every of the terrific loose Anti-Virus applications on the information superhighway. you merely ought to sign up with them to apply it loose. Avast alongside with Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware could shop your pc particularly secure.
