Your baby may have dropped, it is nto uncommon for this to happen during the 8th month.

This is commom in pregnancies. It just means that the baby has positioned itself and is getting ready for the big day. The discomfort you are feeling is from the baby putting pressure on your cervix. It sounds like the "stabbing vagina pains." I believe these pains are similar to the "stabbing uterine pains" and are caused by stretching and repositioning of tendons, ligaments and muscles. Over the course of your pregnancy, your cervix has stretched to make room for the baby to come out, and now it is very tender. I don't know exactly when your due-date is, but it could be a possibility that you might be dilating some and your bundle of joy may be arriving sooner than you think. The best thing to do is talk to your doctor. They will tell you that this is perfectly normal. No need for you to be alarmed. Also, when you are sitting, try sitting on a pillow, or sit with your legs slightly spread. When you lie down, whether it be on the couch or bed, put a pillow between your knees. It helps ease the pain!!

Definitely the baby moving down, combined with the fact that they're growing so fast at this point. I have a bad back, and I had that pressure you're talking about for the final 3 months of my pregnancy, and it sucked! Just be glad you're almost done!

Being your in your 8th month, it's no doubt the pressure of the baby dropping into position for birth in the next month.

I have the same problem- I am 8 months prego this Friday. It is the baby's weight pressing on your uterus. Totally normal. He may change positions every now and then to ease up a little, but from my first baby I know that this is pretty much how it's going to feel until the end.

Your baby is just running out of room :-) It's going to get more and more crowded in there up until you give birth. You can tell your OB about the feeling and have her check to see if you're dialated or effaced at all yet.

I had that "foot-in-the-cervix" feeling from the sixth month on. It got worse the longer I stood up...but it wasn't a sign that I was going into labor, and I wasn't dialated at all.

Sounds like you are just experiencing the baby coming down into the birth position. To relieve this, I used to get down on all 4's and arch my back and then let my belly drop down. It helped alot if I did it several times slowly !! Good Luck!

I would say it is your baby beginning to engage into the pelvis area. When your baby descends to get ready for birth you sometimes feel pressure on your pelvic floor as he/she descends. I had it myself and it was very uncomfortable near the end. But dont worry its normal. Its just your baby getting ready for entry into the world!

I felt that too around the 8th month, and when i asked my midwife she told me it is a sign that the baby is making its way downwards or "dropping" to get ready to be born. Its quite normal.

It sounds like the baby has dropped into the pelvis ready for birth. It usually happens around this time with your first bub.
