I had some cramps this weekend. I am only about 4wks pregnant. But the ER Doctor wants to be sure. So in a week I have to have an ultrasound. There is no bleeding and the cramps are not as bad. Do you think this still could be one? Or doesn it seem like a miscarriage?

Do you always have cramping during an ectopic pregnancy?

I had an ectopic pregnancy about 2 years ago. I aborted at 6wks. But i had no cramping at all. My doctor only found it by accident during an U/S and was told if it had been left any longer i might have had complications.

Ive since been pregnant and had my baby in January this year. And during the first trimester i had another ectopic scare when i started bleeding bright red blood and was getting cramps. But i turned out fine. I was told by my doctor it can be quite normal to get some cramping in early pregnancy even if it isnt ectopic or a miscarriage.

But it is always better to be safe than sorry and get that ultrasound as quick as possible just to make sure that everything will be ok for you and your baby.

I have experienced an ectopic pregnancy, and the cramps are so serious that you know something is very wrong. I have also had 2 children, and can tell you the cramps you are feeling are perfectly normal. Many times you will experience light spotting early in your pregnancy, but if it is heavy and a real red color or clotting than have it check out ASAP. Throughout both my healthy pregnancies, I had mentrual like cramping for the first trimester. Later on you will have cramping because the muscles and ligaments are stretching. Your doctor does not seem too concerned though because an ectopic pregnancy is so serious that you need it dealt with asap or else there can be serious damage.

Everyone is different, usually with a miscarriage and an ectopic pregnancy cramps and bleeding are pretty bad. They should check you HCG levels to see how they are holding up.
