Ok I have 3 RAM sticks and I need to know how much RAM(memory) they have on them. They are for desktops. They were used on an older Dell computer. I mean is there a numbe on them to tell how much RAM there is or what?

Thanks

Go to Start==>Right click on My Computer==>Click on Properties...Your RAM amount will be listed on the bottom.

there is usually a sticker on the back or somewhere on the RAM (its not a stick by the way... haha it confuses people) that says the memory
or you can always install (just plug it in before you fire up the comp) and then right click on my computer and click properties it should say how much memory the computer has in total (you should be able to do a little bit of simple addition right)

Yes look for a number followed by MB or GB.. most likely MB if it is older

For XP you need atleast 512 MB and for Vista you need atleast 1GB (1024MB)..

go to www.crucial.com, they have this system memory checker. when run onto your computer, it will give you the memory specifications (ei, size, type, voltage ex 256MB DDR 400MHz, 2.5V) and which slots on your motherboard are occupied and which ones are available.
