I seen a show about two months ago on The Science Channel. They stated, an average computer will draw 80% of its full power even when in standby / sleep mode. So I shut mine off any more - i used to leave it on until then.

Well it all depends on how you have your energy settings. Do you have it to go into hybernation at any point. Also the bad thing about leaving your computer on is it will slow down and you should completely turn it off every so often.

It also depends what kind of computer. For example, my laptop would use about 1 kwh.
