who do you think the raiders will pick? dont come in and post "raiders suck" please.

jamarcus russell seams obvious, but i dunno. andrew walter last year, when he actually had more than 1 second in the pocket, threw the ball quite accurately. however, most of the time, the defense was at him before he looked at the field. the raiders are still happy with walter, so i think they might go with joe thomas. give an explanation to your answer

The only two different scenarios that the Raiders have are 1. Russell, and 2. Calvin Johnson.

These picks are contingent upon the Raiders' situation. If Moss is traded, CJ doesn't seem out of the question. However, with Moss staying, the Raiders, who love Russell's arm, will pick Russell. Calvin Johnson is the consensus best player in the draft due to athletic talent, hard work, character, and production. He's a rare talent.

Certainly, QB seems to be an area of need for the Raiders. However, Walter did impress some when he could get the oppurtunities to throw the ball before being rushed or sacked. However, if the line doesn't improve anytime soon, he may end up like Houston's David Carr: a wasted talent beat up all the time.

However, Al may be wary of drafting an OL man with the 1st overall pick, due to Robert Gallery. The hype between these two linemen may seem to close for Al to confidently choose Thomas.

AS for the Raides i think Russel is by far the best choice. He has better mobility than Quinn which will greatly help deal with the Raiders poor O line, his arm strength is amazing and he has the potential to be a great NFL QB. You cant go with Johnson because after seeing Moss then you know that even great WR's cant produce with no QB. If the Raiders could aquire a decent QB from the free agency that could last a few more years then calvin johnson wouldnt be a bad choice. Joe Thomas is logically reasonable because improving your O-Line would essentially improve your QB, but again when you see the style of play that Jamarcus Russel has and you compare it to others who play with the same style (Vince Young) you cant miss the opportunity to give Russel a chance.

I wouldn't draft Russell. First off, I don't hes a true value at #1. Hes overrated just because of what he did against Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl. Hes not mobile at 265 lbs and will get beat on with the raiders lousy offensive line. He throws off his back foot too often and doesn't always have very good mechanics. I see him more as a physical specimen that will take a few years to develop.

The raiders have so many need areas, I would trade down and get more picks. It would have been perfect if they could have traded Randy Moss for Aaron Rodgers, then they could have traded down a few spots and taken the true #1, Calvin Johnson.

Another reason not to take Russell is that QB is by far the most hit and miss position in the NFL. Many of the best QBs in the league weren't first round(let alone first overall) picks, including Matt Hasselbeck, Drew Brees, Brett Favre, and the great Tom Brady.

Wow an intellegent 1st pick. Finally someone realizes that it really doesn't matter at QB right now. Joe Thomas is the perfect choice. Russell could be great but he is going to get ran over. Raiders fans need to stop blaming things on Moss you all where so happy to get him and look what happens when he doesn't produce. Trading Moss for Rodgers doesn't solve anything. Rodgers took 15 snaps last year... You need to build the o-line and take Thomas. If not him then Tony Ugoh in the 2nd round.

The Raiders will pick Jamarcus Russell because hes a versatile QB that can throw the deep ball and get away from the Defense. Raiders already have a decent running core all they need is to pick up a good reciever that JR can throw too.

I think they'll take Russell...It'd be dumb not to right? Although the Texans screwed themselves last year...Teams that select top 5 should ALWAYS go for best talent available before need. Beyond pick 5 is when I'd start taking picks based on need...like Texans taking Mario Williams...they needed him, but Bush would have helped them win more games I think...oh well, Williams might be the next Julius Peppers, who knows? But on the Raiders. They have to take a QB, if they don't, and opt for Calvin Johnson to trade Moss away for a 1st DAY pick(1-2-3) take a QB in the 2nd round. It doesn't matter who, they'll have Calvin Johnson anyway ...I wanna see him play right now!! Good luck to the Raiders on whatever they do though.

My decision would be to draft Calvin Johnson, the Georgia Tech wide receiver. They may even be able to trade the top pick and get assurance from that team that they wouldn't draft Johnson and get him still as well as another 1st or 2nd rounder. QB is a crucial piece I admit but I'm just not sold on Russell as a certain star....I remember too many other hyped QB's who haven't panned out..ie...the other guy everyone thought might be better to draft than Peyton Manning. So many pieces of this team need upgraded that I think you take the best available player which is Johnson...even better if U can make deal and get him plus other choices or veteran players as part of the deal.

Brady Quinn would be the best bet for the raiders i think Russell will fail at the next level but the raiders are good at picking failures to probaly russell

I guess they should take Russell because they need a QB to build a good franchise. The Raiders don't draft Calvin Johnson cause no one is able to throw to WR in this team. After re-sign Lamont Jordan they don't even need a RB.

Calvin Johnson. He is the most talented player in the last couple of years to be able to draft. The Raiders should dump moss to the pack and get Aaron Rodgers. That will solve the quarterback problem.
