HEy, when I buy world of warcraft, do I have to pay for it every month/week? Or do you have to just install it and play without paying every month???

SO you have to pay every month? :( That sucks, but how much do you have to pay?

Yes, you have to pay, and the fee varies depending on how you pay it. I bought the 6-month subscription for $12 /month. That's the lowest I've seen. The normal price is a 2-month pay as you go card for $30 (just like buying prepaid cell minutes), so obviously $15 /month.

The price you paid at the store is only for the software. Blizzard charges a monthly subscription fee to support the upkeep of the servers since you can only play online. Think of it like paying for internet service. You're really paying the fee for access to the online World of Warcraft rather than paying to play...

If you want a similar game without the subscription costs, I'd recommend Guild Wars. It's very similar, but you only pay for the game once, and play for free. When they release the next generation or expansion pack, then you have to pay to buy that again, but no monthly subscription costs...

You pay monthly but the game is worth the small fee of $14.99 a month. I have played several mmorpg's out there including Guild Wars that are free every month and GW is the best one out there without a monthly payment attached to it but WoW is SOO much better! You can try the free trial and see if you wanted www.worldofwarcraft.com

The price you paid in the store was just for the software, unfortunately. To be able to access their servers and actually play is a subscription service, likely to cover staff that are constantly fixing bugs, answering ppl questions, or on RP servers especially addressing ppl stupid complaints (his name breaks the RP policy...for example). And these ppl are getting paid to do it. Its about $15/month, you either have blizz take regular payments from ur credit card, or u buy gamecards from the store (which cost $30 but it covers 2 months). You can usually find gamecards for a little less expensive on EBAY.

Hello there,

Yes there is a monthly payment of around $15/month but it gets cheaper when you pay quarterly or yearly but of course there's much cash involved up front.

The payment is for the maintenance of servers as well as free updates, bug fixes, etc. as well as new game content. It's really worth it you should check it out.

15.00 bucks a month every month the Good lord sends. Try Guild Wars instead, it's regularly updated, no fee to play and hella fun.
