Live it would be U2 hands down. Def Leppard may have had great stage presence 15 years ago but now it's just a bit sad to look at them. Poison and Journey are on the same boat (Jounrey now does it with a Steve Perry look-alike anyway). Metallica albeit a great live band lacks the passion U2 can conjure up in a live performance. Bono is just such an enigmatic front man and The Edge really hammers away at those guitar parts.
My question is... why would you even put Def Leppard, Metallica, Poison and Journey through a comparison with U2? It seems a bit unfair!

Although Def Leppard is my favorite band on this list, objectively I would have to say Metallica is the best band on this list. So I say Metallica (assuming they don't play anything from St. Anger at this battle of the bands).

U2 by far. With the possible exception of Metallica, the rest have all faded away. U2 has been around since the 70s and still going strong!

The only ones that are in the same classification are Def Leppard and Poison (and maybe Journey.) All the rest are apples and oranges.
U2 and Metallica are the survivors of this list though, so I'd pick one of them.
