Along about that time I became interested in the history of the American Civil War and became a re-enactor of that era. My wife took a couple more years, but when she realized there are women who also do it, she became very interested. We've since watched a couple romances blossom and result in marriage among re-enactors.

They're as different as people at any other age. One way to find out is to ask them. Or ask their friend or someone who knows them. Or get someone else to do the asking. Or engage them in conversation & be a good listener and see what it is they like to talk about, and feel them out about different things. Another way would be for your mom to take a guess -- ask them, invite them to do something she'd like to do, like go to some movie or social event or whatever, & if they do, then she could find out more in conversation. Find out the same way you or she would find out about anybody else's interests, at any age.

Travel, movies, dinners out, plays, concerts, riding bikes, going to amusement parks, museums, art galleries, going to horse races or car races, auto cross, hiking, swimming, boating, sporting events, church events, going to wineries, brewery tours, shopping, cooking, to name a few.

I clean my cars...polish wheels etc. Cooking, music. movies, books, shopping, browsing, going out with friends, and of course....I gave up on woman...LOL.
