Inform yourself and find out where your beliefs lie and what is most important to you. Do a lot of research, contact your local, state and federal officials via phone call or letter.

I don't know what your stance is on issues, but please disregard the total lack of respect for some of the liberals attacks. You have your own mind, don't let anyone sway you, it is what is in your heart. Donate your time to a political organization, but always follow your heart and your head. Around election time help is always needed, or contact an organization that goes along with your beliefs and offer to volunteer.

Good luck because most 17 yr olds or young adults have no idea what is going on and thank you for not falling into that category of airhead teens that don't care. I wish more kids were like you and others close to your age.

Always, always, look at all sides of an issue. If you listen to only one side, you'll only know about one side.

Keep your eyes wide open.

You want to get involved that is great!

First thing.. don't take advice like "Protest the war" without first learning the facts and forming your own opinion on the issues. There will be loads of people who want to sway you one way or the other, a good politician will understand both sides and be able to speak intelligently on why they are making a decision one way or the other.

Second.. all politics are local politics. What this means is that even the smallest issue can be a major one and after all it is the people around you.. the locals that will ultimately get you elected to office.

Be true to your convictions and your beliefs. The conservatives will tell you to think one way the democrats will say another and they will all tell lies and bend the truth about each other. Keep a clear mind, know the facts, make your decisions based on what is good not for you or not for a party but based on what is best for your constituency.

Be honest. Integrity above all else.

Maybe you don't want to run for office, maybe you just want to be involved in something. If that is the case that is great too! But I challenge you to find someone who follows the above principles.

Politics are ugly, don't get caught up in the partisan rhetoric.

Start by setting aside what you have been told so far in your life and start studying the Constitution and American History.
It's important to know how and why this country was founded and who the founding fathers hoped we would be.
Hopefully you'll believe that too.
Then read up on the political parties. Their history, what they stood for when founded and where they are today. That will give you an idea where they may go in the future.

Once you have a grasp on the current platforms of the parties, choose an affiliation if you desire.

Follow the issues and research them to determine what your opinion is.

To be involved is to have your own opinion. Any fool can repeat rhetoric they overhear with no clear understanding of how that opinion was reached or even if it's a good opinion.

It took original thoughts to form this country and it will take original thoughts to solve our problems. You may come to the same conclusion as your friends and fellow party members, but try to reach that conclusion based on your own research. That way, you'll never voice an opinion with no back up. You'll always be able to stand up and say Here's what I think and Here's why I think it. That's being involved.

Those are great answers, if you want to be a protester guys!!!

The best thing to do is contact the political party that you believe is the best. Then contact the local office of that party (can be found on the party's national website) and volunteer with them.

Stay involved through college get a degree that's relevant to the political world ( political science, law, business exc...).

First, become informed -- don't just adopt views without investigating a variety of perspectives (I was going to say this even before I read in your Additional that you watch a propaganda station).

As you become informed, you will learn of ways you can become involved.

You aren't clear as to what, exactly, you want to do.

One can't help wondering why a supporter of the war doesn't consider helping out.

After all, recruitment is way down, they're taking criminals and morons, and could probably use someone who is neither.
