48 hours after having sex? no, the egg hasn't even implanted yet or has just implanted, you're really not even pregnant yet and your body has not begun producing hormones.
48 after conception? incredibly unlikely, although some women have gotten pregnancy tests within a week but it's probable they misjudged the actual conception date.
48 after your missed period? yes, this is probably a good time to test because missing your period is a good sign that HCG is building up in your system.

48 hours after conception?
No way. It doesn't work like that.
Besides, it's better that you DON'T know that. Conception doesn't occur until 48 hours AFTER you have sex, and a few weeks after that it's really easy to lose the baby without even knowing you were pregnant in the first place.

You have to wait until you miss your period.
Once your period is late, then you can take a home pregnancy test. With some people it shows up right away if your pregnant and with others it might take up to 3 weeks before it shows up positive.

It takes 7-10 days for the fertilized egg to implant in the uterus, so it is about 4-7 days after that when you should be missing your period.
