Why do others try to put people down? To make themselves seem better?

They're jealous, I guess. I'm happy for my friends when they do well.

I like questions like these that make me think, if I'm getting a bit lazy. This is a character trait that has puzzled me greatly for years. Here's what I know: a few little babies are born without a bit of jealousy and never develop it. We have a few of those blessed people in our family. And there are others who must be trained from the earliest age to share and care and to develop into giving, loving people. The sad ones are the people who were never guided out of jealous ways!
I was blessed with beautiful parents who were able to guide me through stories and "preaching" as I called it at the time, to understand that we were never diminished by not having the blessings that some other of our friends and relatives had. Then came the "it's mored blessed to give than receive" talks. And as I grew I started to notice that my parents were givers. And the more they gave, the more that was heaped back on us. Once I heard another family member say, "I had to give my way out of selfishness and poverty." That young man gave of his poverty, and he is now blessed with all good things. Family, riches and abundance at every turn, but he keeps trying to give it all away.
I practiced when I was very young, to try to figure out why it was more blessed to give. I suspect in the early years, all I wanted to do was to prove that my parents were SO wrong. One year I started noticing that I really was having a lot more fun giving. For years, my Christmas and birthday shopping has started in January. Sometimes I can't wait, and have to have my excitement by giving gifts early. Which means I can do more ebaying for Christmas.
It wasn't long until I realized that every time I gave, I received, just as my dad told me would happen, according to Biblical scriptures and principles. Several decades ago, I also was taught and discovered the blessings of The Secret although it was called something different. I embraced it, and I can testify that it works. I highly recommend it. We don't have to be jealous of what others have. By the laws of attraction, we can have what we desire. If you don't believe that, I will send you some pictures. Sorry this is so long. But it is a subject dear to my heart. And I want lots of people to learn the easy principal. The things that break my heart these days are some of the younger people (and some old) who never learned these lessons. They are so unhappy. Go out and find out about "the law of attraction" if you do not already know it.

Some people get jealous if anyone has more than them. These same type of people enjoy putting others down because it makes them feel better about their pathetic life. I feel sorry for people like this because they are never happy with anything in their life. They are simple minded and don't deserve the scraps I give to my cats..

Because they were probably not given the opportunity to succeed in life, and try to put that person down because they are able to succeed in life. Everyone can succeed it just takes time and effort.

I don't know! I could never get it why some people seem to be bothered when you are doinig well in your life!
They're just horribble I guess.
Don't pay attention to what they say or do!

well it depends on the person. if its a parent or guardian, they may be scared of you growing up and being out in the real world with real dangers. if its a friend, they may be jealous or they're just scared for you.

they do it to make themselves feel better. also because theyre usually jealous of the person they treat rudely.

the reason is that they are jealous. I dont have much to say, but one day the bullies that bully you will be calling you BOSS one day. You just have to keep your head in those books and dont worry what they say. youre the minority!

Jealousy. They hate their own lives compared to others. They believe if their's isn't right, no one's should be.
