If not already known: Did you drinking cause any psychological problems such as making you depressed or anxious, making it hard to sleep or causing blackouts?

Blackouts when drinking is when you drink so much, that when you wake up the next day (generally after passing out), you cannot remember anything that occured during the time (or for a period of time) when you were intoxicated.

Blackouts generally mean you don't remember that time period. Sometimes after drinking heavily at night, I blackout, not recalling what happened between that time and when I finally passed out. Often this is the time when people act out unusually...maybe dancing topless if they normally wouldn't, or flashing the neighbors if they normally wouldn't. You don't recall any of it, even when your friends tell you the next day what you did.

Alcoholic blackouts are times when you do not remember what you did after drinking.

blackout....a period of total memory loss, as one induced by an accident or prolonged alcoholic drinking:
"The patient cannot account for the bizarre things he did during his blackout."

You are not necessarily unconscious but can't remember anything.
