What does it mean to dispose of the complaint to establish paternity? I really need to know because I'm going to court tomorrow because the defendant to this case opened this back up to do this. I did not want his money in the first place but the state made me go after him. When we first went to court I told him I did not want to pursue this and I thought that the case was closed then 2 weeks ago I got this in the mail. PLEASE HELP!

It "sounds" like it means to get rid of the complaint. However, more information is needed to give a more accurate answer, such as what State you reside in and more details about the case.

You don't have to disclose that on here. So I would suggest you contact the family court division of the district court in the jurisdiction you reside in. Usually there is a self-help center or a student lawyer that can offer assistance or even the legal aid office. If you don't get through, try the State Bar's office and they can usually assist you with a low cost referral to an attorney who can look over your paperwork.

He may have his own reasons for pursuing, including visitation rights. It might not be about the money...or maybe he wants the issue resolved once and for all.

The papers he filed with the court should give you some clue about is motives. You really should see a local attorney rather than seeking legal advice in this forum.

They want to finalize the case, and take it off the court call.
