I live on Long Island and i am a senior in HS. My options for next year are SUNY Buffalo, and SUNY Albany. I plan to major in business and both schools have a great 5 year MBA program. I am also a huge sports fan which Buffalo basicially sucks and Albany has been in the NCAA basketball tournament 2 straight years and their lacrosse is sick this year. I originaly liked the idea of a big campus, but I am starting to like Albany. My parents are leaning towards Buffalo. I know a lot of upperclassmen and alumni from Albany and not so much from Buffalo.

My own feeling is that SUNY Buffalo is actually the better school. And while Albany has the attractions which come with being a state capital Buffalo is actually a much more attractive and cultured city than some of its detractors would parody it. Further, if you are a sports fan, Buffalo does have professional teams in two major sports and one of the most entertaining AAA baseball franchises in America.

I think you know your answer. You said Buffalo's team suck and Albany is real good and you know people from Albany. Even if your parents want you to go to Buffalo, you have to make the ultimate choice. It is your future.

By the way, I live in NY and I've driven through Albany...seem like a medium size city without all the hustle and bustle of really big city life.

I have a feeling you're going to lean towards Albany.

p.s. I'm a business major myself.

Hello. It sounds like you do have a big decision. Though sports sounds somewhat important to you, I would not use that to base such an important decision. You should look at which school will offer you MORE opportunities and have more options to assist you once you are finally attending there. Though I think Albany would be nice, I think you should listen and understand where your parents are coming from... especially if they're helping with the tuition. They are looking out for your best interest, so listen to them and see things from their position. You can always make friends in Buffalo, and you may come to see the value of it later... though it may seem otherwise presently. Find ways to plug in socially, create a network to find strength and support. Keep your eyes on the prize: your graduation and degree. Whether you're in the school of academia or the school of life, there will be decisions and issues for you to deal with. You are becoming an adult, and once at college you'll have to keep yourself on the straight and narrow. Keep pushing and good luck.

Bradley, sounds like you already have made up your mind. Albany should be the place to hang your undergraduate hat and call home. Don't make the same mistake I did. I chose Northern AZ Univ. over AZ St. Northern AZ has NO sports and well you know of ASU....PAC-10 and all. It just sucks when you have no team to support. Go Albany bro.
