my computer can't read my hard drive ...?

this morning my dad was cleaning out my computer, using disk cleanup or something like that, and now when i try access my back up harddrive it won't work, i just keeps asking me if i want to reformat it. my hardrive is connected by usb. the computer knows its there but i can't seem to access it anymore. any ideas how i can fix this?

He could of damaged the drive. But it might not be his fault. Try removing the drive and try it on another computer, if not the only way it to reformat it....sorry..
