so i have this booster in the attic and traced the wire coming from it and it connects to nothing.. thou it appeared to at one point connect to an old thermostat? but anyway.. the wire coming off the booster has white, red, blue.. the red wire is spliced in and connects to the booster.. then the wire goes of somewhere? I dont know where.. i assume that one or all of the white, red, blue should be connected to the thermostat?? which ones? any help appreciated...

thanks

i am assuming the MC is hot.. i havent gotten as far as checking all the connections just noticed that the brown low voltage wire coming off the unit ran down a hole in the attic floor and was connected to nothing.. there is a patch on the wall very close to where that wire would run.. and on a adjacent wall is the termostat..

That looks like a blower motor, is it supposed to exhaust heat in the attic? Or is it to help move air from the unit? Either way it's not going to be wired to the thermostat, it was probably wired to the unit to a low voltage switch that would come on when the unit comes on. Or it may have just been wired to a switch that you would turn on when you needed the booster. It looks like there is MC cable going to the motor, is that hot? and where does that go? The skinny brown wire is low voltage and looks like a thermostat wire but that would make sense to hook it up to that only. It would make more sense to hook it up to the fan motor in the unit. Sorry but without being there it's hard to make a guess.

Just a guess , it must hook up to the furnace/air conditioner and starts when furnace starts.
