ok all i remember in the movie is this remote thing that can turn of all the elecricity to the world and there fighting to get the remote and i think the president has it its been bothering me for a year please some one help

WATERWORLD Had Kevin Costner in it. It's about the world being solely water and he (Kevin) has gills. I don't think it's what you're thinking of... sorry.

I believe you are thinking of Escape From L.A. It was the sequel to Escape From New York.
In it Kurt Russell returns as Snake Pliskenn, who is hired by the curent president of the USA to bring back his daughter who has gone off with a guerilla leader in the ruined island of Los Angeles. And she has with her this device that will shut down all electricity all over the world.
I believe that has to be the film you are thinking of.

Not sure but it's not Waterworld. That was with Kevin Costner...world covered with water. They didn't realize there was any dry land til the very end.

I recall a movie about earthquakes in california that would destroy planet. The peoples sent by president put a bomb in a faultline thingy and there was a remote that set it off.
Had Rutger Hower in it, I think.
There was a remote thingy they had and the that could be set off by others, president included.
