after watching him last season and seeing him carry the Rangers into the playoffs along with Jagr as a rookie and then seeing him win gold in the olympics everyone knew he was a damn good goaltender now after a slow start in the beginning of this season he's turned it around and since janurary he's been the best in the league and thanks to him the rangers have playoff hopes so do you think that lundqvist after this season has proven himself as of the the best goalies in the league?

If you were judging based on the last twenty games it would be hard to argue that Lundqvist wasn't one of the top goalies in the league. His save percentage is .935 and his goals against is 1.36 during that span. It also corresponds quite nicely with the arrival of Dan Girardi, the removal of Aaron Ward, the arrival of Paul Mara and the injury to Feydor Tyutin. Suddenly, defensive prowess has become part of the Ranger vernacular. If you look at all the great goaltenders, they all had very capable to great defenses in front of them. I would bet that Marty Broduer has faced the fewest shots against him per game of any goalie that is out there. It makes it very easy to have shutouts and post low goals against when you only face 20 shots per game. Suddenly the Rangers are doing that and Lundqvist is making sure he's on spot for everyone of the shots that do come in his direction. He was weak in the beginning of the year because there was so much emphasis placed on his performing even better than last year. Now that emphasis is falling more squarely and fairly on the whole team his game has risen to the elite status. This is only his second full year, so is he ready to be crowned an elite goalie? Maybe, but lets see how the Rangers do in the playoffs this year (providing they make it).

I think Lundqvist is definitely in the top ten right now and is one of the best in the league I mean look at the type of defensively unsound team he has to play for and the amount of turnovers, breakways and shorthanded opportunities NYR gives up and how Lundqvist basically saves NYR everytime in the shootout because Jagr cannot score. Lundqvist almost always allows two goals or less in his wins and his GAA is really good. NYR depends on Lundqvist to come up with big saves because they cannot afford mistakes when the team isn't playing well. Lundqvist is probably the MVP of the rangers this year like Jagr was last year. I think Lundqvist represents the next great era of NYR goaltending after we though replacing Richter would be impossible but mark my word Lundqvist will be and is better than Richter and will end his career as one of the top goalies to have ever played the game. I mean look at the way he plays on not too good NYR teams imagine when the Rangers get really good defensively how good Lundqvist's record will be.

Has Lunqvist been the great goalie because the lockout? likely. Is he the first guy i'd %. to start up for my crew next 3 hundred and sixty 5 days? No, i'd take Rinne. The Preds had no corporation even being in the playoffs, now to not teach having any fulfillment in the playoffs with out Rinne. it truly is no longer a dig at Henrik. In twenty years we ought to seem again and say Henrik replaced into the great goalie for the period of his era, yet he remains were given some more advantageous to teach formerly that takes position.

No. I will say that Lunongo or even Marc Andre` Fluery is better than Lundqvist. He has the players in front of him to keep the puck out of his zone. They clear it and push for the offensive zone more than people realize. Maybe in a few years Lundqvist will be up there with Roy and Brouduer but not yet.

I'd say top 8 or 10. Brodeur, Luongo, Kipper, Hasek,Giguere, Turco are the best IMO. After that, he is in there with that 2nd tier group with guys like Miller, DiPietro, and Vokoun.

greatness is usually accompanied by championships. He already has an olympic gold medal so I guess he has a good start. He is technically sound as well and has good lateral movement. I`d say he is up there with the others but just don`t try to put him in the same category as brodeur just yet.

Lundqvist is amazing. I'll give you that. But I don't think he's one of the best in the NHL now. I definately think he has potential to be there someday, but not right now.

No.

Not that my dreadful Kings couldn't use him, but he's got a way to go in terms of accomplishments to be spoken of in the same breath as ALL of the following: Brodeur, Kiprusoff, Giguere, Luongo, Turco, Nabokv, Toskala, Hasek, AND Vokoun.

He is good, don't think he has proven himself to be one of the best. To be fair I don't give very many the title of One of the Best, and sorry the competition of proven vets is almost impossiable for him to get that title.
