Yes, it happens to a greater or lesser degree. At about seven years, if the Love is still vibrant, both tend to look elsewhere only to see how other people behave, as a sort of curiosity.
If the relationship is allowed to become stale, through overwork, children, and spending too much time apart, the risk of affairs - sometimes just to remove the boredom of familiarity - is strong, and marriage breakdowns more likely at this stage. In the Wicca, we have a 'handfasting' which lasts a year and a day, during which no attempt to produce children is made, before the permanent commitment is made. It's amazing how much that year brings out!!

No. We've been at it for 7 years and it just gets better. Although we did do everything backwards, I think those points,{3 yr, 7 yr, 20 yr} are really boredom. At 3 years in, usually the point before or after the baby, at 7, babies are now kids, at 20, nothing new to do.

I used to worry about this scare tactic, made up by, whoever. I know now, it is a bunch of bull. I have been with my hubby for 10 years married for the 3 of them. If you get caught up in the scare tactics, your paranoia could push your mate away. I think everyones situation is different, I have a good hubby and a strong relationship. Alot of trust and openess comes out of our relationship.
